Aintree Festival Preview - Day 3

Aintree Festival Preview - Day 3 Day 2 review Another tricky day with not too much to shout about. We started off with Doyen Quest who finished 4th but just missed out on a place to get us on the back foot early.  Next we had L'Eau Du Sud and in hindsight I have no idea what I was thinking with this selection, absolutely terrible! Things finally went our way in the next race as the NAP of the day lands at 10/1! A massive result that got us into the green for the day.  Zeus Power then kept the ball rolling and won at 5/1 for us! from a nightmare start to this was exactly what we needed. Harry Lowes was our last bet of the day and ran a admirable race but could only finish 3rd to round up day 2. 12.45 - Maghull Novices' Chase A relatively short price favourite in Salvatore Mundi to kick off day 3 and It's one I'm going to side with here. He came alive here last year when he won the top Novices' Hurdle beating Romeo Coolio and I'm hoping he returns to the same va...

Aintree Festival Preview - Day 2

Aintree Festival Preview - Day  2 Day 1 Review It was a bit of a mixed bag on day 1 starting off with a sickening result where Selma De Vary was just touched off by Mange Tout particularly because I actually put up Mange Tout as a horse to follow at the start of the season so that was a really tough blow to kick us off.  We then got our first winner of the day wit Koktail Divin after capitalising on the fall of the favourite Lulamba.  The NAP of the day came next and this was a real blow, Impaire et Passé fell at the 2nd last when making a challenge which was absolutely gutting however seeing him walk away from that awful fall was by far the best result of the day.  Unexpected Party and Sans Bruit both placed but couldn't get their noses in front, A frustrating day but we still made a small profit heading into day 2. A very tricky card to run through so I'll be playing small stakes for most of my selections here. 13.45 - William Hill Handicap Hurdle we kick of...

2026 Aintree Festival Preview - Day 1

Aintree Festival Preview - Day 1 The Cheltenham festival was only 4 weeks ago but it seem like a world away now as we quickly turn our attention up north as the Aintree Festival gets under way. 3 days of action to get through including 11 grade 1's as well as the big one on Saturday.. Let's get into it!  13.45 - 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle If you've read my column for the Racing App you'll know I'm plotting my revenge from the triumph Hurdle with my first selection as I'll be siding with the filly Selma De Vary again here. She looked a tricky ride for Paul at the festival as she never seemed to settle but she came home strongly after getting stuck in traffic up the run in finishing 4th. She's only had 2 starts for Willie Mullins and although she's yet to get her head in front, I think there's still bags of improvement to come from her. The long straight at Aintree should suit her running style perfectly, she has a high cruising speed as well as a lightnin...
