Cheltenham Ante-Post Series 2025/26 Vol #6

Cheltenham Ante-Post Series 2025/26 Vol #6 Wendigo - Brown Advisory Novice Chase - 20/1 (1pt EW) I've made it quite clear that I'm of the opinion that there could be a superstar in this race but again I'm quite happy to get another in the book at a bigger price to play against the favourite. Other than Final Demand there's a few I think you can put a line through with the likes of Romeo Coolio looking like he's Arkle bound & some question marks over a few being able to stay the trip. As much as Kitzbuhel was impressive over Christmas he struck me as a bit of a flat track bully & I'm not sure his exuberant jumping style would suit Cheltenham & usually suits the more out & out stayer which Wendigo certainly is! For that reason I think you can forgive his run against Kitzbuhel at Kempton where he just found it a bit too sharp & would expect him to reverse that form on a more galloping track, He will LOVE that hill! Cheltenham Favourites - PLAY or LAY

Cheltenham Favourites - PLAY or LAY With the Cheltenham Festival only a matter of weeks away & Ante-post markets hotting up I think it'll be a good idea to rattle through the championship races and just give my opinion on whether I'd play or lay each favourite.  I understand this might be quite a tricky task with still some water to go under the bridge from now until March but I'll give my honest opinion given how the markets are currently shaping up. I'm going to categorise each one into either PLAY , LAY or ON THE FENCE so lets get straight into it! Supreme Novice Hurdle - El Cairos - 9/2  I can't remember a supreme market every being this open in recent years and it's quite refreshing seeing a horse that doesn't belong to Willie Mullins at the top of the market. El Cairos was travelling all over them in his first run over hurdles at Christmas and I think its safe to say he would've won in a walk if it wasn't for that freak fall after the las...

Cheltenham Ante-Post Series 2025/26 Vol #5 Kargese - Arkle Chase - 10/1 (1pt win) If you've followed me for the last year or so you'll know that I'm leading the line for the Kopek Des Bordes fan club and whilst I'm on at a decent price, again it would seem silly not to have another arrow to throw in what looks to be a competitive race. She didn't take to fences straight away when being beaten by Kala Conti on seasonal reappearance but I'd be happy to forgive any horse first time out and I don't think she would've appreciated the soft ground at Cork that day so I'm happy to put a line through that run. She quickly got back to winning ways over the Christmas period beating Lovely Hurling by 14 lengths! which just so happens to be the same winning distance as Kopek Des Bordes managed against the same horse in his beginners chase. I'm still very firmly in the 'Kopek camp' but if there was one to take him on with it would be this mare. She...

Cheltenham Ante-Post Series 2025/26 Vol #4 You Proof - Turners Novice Hurdle - 33/1 (1PT EW) After looking through the market for this race post Christmas I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw 33/1 about this lad after his impressive win down at limerick on the 28th of December. It's quite tricky to pick apart the form as it's only a maiden hurdle but Kings Bucks was in 2nd and went off a 4/5 favourite after finishing 3rd behind No Drama This End at Cheltenham at the November meeting so getting the better of him first time out over hurdles looks like solid enough form to me.  It might be the fact that he runs in the double green colours but he does remind me of Impaire Et Passé who went on to win the 2m4f novice hurdle at Cheltenham in 2023 and I have a feeling You Proof could go on to do the same. He's by no means a certainty with No Drama This End topping the market at around 7/2 but at the prices I think this is a fair bit of value at well worth a EW play at 33/1. Fo...

Cheltenham Ante-Post Series 2025/26 Vol #3 Heart wood - Ryanair Chase - 16/1 (1pt EW) If you follow me on X you'll know how much of a fan I am of Fact To File and whilst I do think he looks pretty solid for this race it would seem silly to not have another bullet to fire in what could shape up to be a relatively deep Ryanair. He made his seasonal reappearance in the John Durkan at Punchestown where he finished 4th behind Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File. He was beaten 32 lengths that day it was clear that the majority of the field needed the run which was certainly the case with this lad as he bolted up next time out at Tramore on New Years Day beating the likes of Ile Atlanique and Champ Kiely. Although this could potentially be a hot race  I do also think there's a chance that this field could cut up a fair bit. Other than Fact To File you could see a few in this market not turning up here. Gaelic Warrior looks destined for the Gold Cup as well as Jango Bai whilst Majborough ...
